Twin Falls anchors Idaho's Magic Valley in the south-central part of the state, roughly halfway between Boise and Salt Lake City along Interstate 84. The city serves as the commercial and medical center for a broad agricultural region that extends from Jerome and Buhl to the west, out to Kimberly and Hansen to the east, and south toward the Nevada border. Agriculture—particularly dairy, cattle, and potato production—drives much of the local economy, supported by food processing plants and the College of Southern Idaho, which draws students from across the region. The Snake River Canyon cuts dramatically through the area, with the Perrine Bridge serving as a landmark visible from much of the city.
