“Dr Amita Ruehe and the team at Aloha Pediatric dentistry are the best! They are very friendly and kind, putting the kids and parents at ease. The parents can sit inside on seats by the wall - keeping us in the loop and informed. They give the kids direct feedback, involving them personally in their own care of their teeth. Empowering and encouraging good oral hygiene. We have a 14 yr old daughter and nearly 11yr old son and still no cavities yet! Even though we moved to Alameda we don’t mind going to Berkeley - - they are definitely worth the drive!”

“Wow. As someone who has had negative dental experiences as a child, it has been important to me to find a very welcoming and gentle, yet knowledgeable pediatric dentist. And now I've found it! Insurance: They pre-authorized the visit with my insurance so I could know what would be covered. This gave me comfort knowing what to expect! (For reference, I have MetLife) Front desk staff: Very helpful when emailing or calling regarding making an appt, insurance, etc as mentioned above. Dental Hygenist: Lori is an angel. My daughter was shy/nervous but Lori continued to talk to her and make conversation to make my daughter more comfortable. Lori is patient, caring, and we are so thankful for her gentle demeanor! Dentist: Dr. Helen was incredibly kind, calm and patient the moment she walked in. She mentioned things my daughter likes in order to make conversation with her (which was information asked in the forms we filled out prior to our appointment. I love that!). I was able to ask Dr. Helen questions and really appreciated her taking the time to answer. Just a fantastic experience all-around! The waiting room: Has a lot of toys for the kids to play with. We arrived early so my daughter could warm up and see how "fun" the dentist could be. I highly recommend reading the Lovevery dentist book they have in the waiting room, "Olivia Goes to the Dentist". It's actually a book with Dr. Helen in it! It explains how the dental visit will go, and explains "sugar bugs" which was a really helpful way of explaining teeth cleaning to my 3 year old. The extras: Oh my goodness! They have stickers, sunglasses, bubbles, toothbrushes, balloons, and other little toys! My daughter absolutely had a great time and is excited for her next visit, which makes my heart so happy! If Dr. Helen starts seeing adults, I'll be first in line! :)”

Dr. Bass was incredibly thoughtful, kind, patient, and genuinely fun with my son, Anthony. She made him feel comfortable and at ease from the moment we walked in. Her office is a dream for kids—bright, playful, and full of charm, with hanging parrots, a whimsical playhouse, and a massive fish tank that kept Anthony entertained and relaxed. The entire experience was smooth and stress-free. Our first dentist appointment felt more like a fun outing than a check-up. Highly recommend!”

“Dr. Nicholas Ching’s office is a kid-friendly haven. The spacious and colorful sea themed wait area features a few play stations and a fish tank, which my son was really drawn to. As you walk in, there is a “Welcome” board straight ahead - at the back wall, that had my son’s name on it, and as well other children who I assume had an appointment that day. It was my 3-year-old son’s first dentist visit, and surprisingly, he did exceptionally well. He didn’t cry or scream, which made me incredibly proud. The hygienist was exceptionally gentle and ensured my son’s comfort. During the teeth polishing, my son was startled by the loud drill-like sound, but after the hygienist showed him the tool, let him touch it, and rest the polish head on his tooth to show him it wasn’t going to cause him any pain, he was at ease. The exam room also has a TV on the ceiling right above the examining bed where they played Paw Patrol, which I believe plays a huge factor in distracting my son, or perhaps we were simply having a great day. Overall, we had a wonderful first experience. The whole office team was wonderful! At the end of the exam we were given a goody bag with all the dental goodies (e.g., toothbrush, floss extender for easy flossing, and toothpaste, etc.). The assistant also provided a gold coin for the gum-ball machine at the end as well, which made my son burst into excitement and as soon as he got his little toy, he was so appreciative and thanked the staff for his toy. Last, but not least, Dr. Ching exudes positive energy and answered all my questions and concerns with clarity and explanation. He explained the process and procedures very well and made me feel comfortable and at ease. I highly recommend Dr. Ching as a pediatric dentist.”

That warmth continues with the dental assistants and Dr. Franklin herself. My children are always so well cared for, but today’s visit truly stood out. My daughter, who initially was anxious felt at ease very quickly. The nurse who initially assessed her was so calm and just knew how to talk to her that my daughter was chatting away with her rest of her visit. And finally, the doctor was amazing. We had the option for fluoride or not, to do a full exam or a brief one. Very clean office, modern but cute with lots of light. Every one of the staff was extremely friendly. The staff are so kind and the facility is clean, spacious, and has all the nice touches a toddler could want; plenty of toys, books, and an over head tv in the dentist chair with Ms Rachel. There was coffee for the adults and even a sweet treat for my wife and I! Our son was quite difficult for his first dentist appointment but everyone was patient and caring. “My kids love to go there and we have had Amazing experiences with doctors and hygienists. They are all very kind and nice with the kids, patient and knowledgeable. They have big TVs In the ceiling of every room, with cartoons to choose from, and the kids receive a balloon and a special price after each visit. All the staff is incredible, very supportive and welcoming. In the waiting area, kids have lots of games and books to entertain with, and every kid is treated with care, empathy and the latest technologies, from the portable xray machines to the dental equipment. “I cannot recommend OPDSF enough! It’s so clear that they’ve thought through every aspect of the patient (and patient parents’) experience. While I did the work of checking to see if they take our insurance, they did the work of verifying authorization and communicated clearly what I would pay and what my insurance would. I got my kiddo there for her appt, and they made her comfortable (well, as comfortable as possible for a toddler who doesn’t like doctors lol). They are friendly and patient, and took time to show my kiddo what would be happening (teeth brushing on a stuffed animal first, etc.) When my kiddo was less comfortable, they helped me soothe her so they could do the cleaning and exam. Plus, they have TVs on the ceilings for kids to watch cartoons as a distraction. I didn’t know what to expect with pediatric dentistry but I’m so glad we found OPDSF because they make things as easy as they can.”

“My 4-year-old son had a dental procedure today at Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry, and I truly can’t say enough good things about our experience. Ace needed 4 crowns and 2 fillings, which meant going under anesthesia — I was extremely nervous as a parent. From start to finish, Dr. Yen (anesthesiologist) and Dr. Chang (dentist) were absolutely amazing. Everything went smoothly, and they made my son feel comfortable and safe the entire time. What really stood out to me was how empathetic and reassuring they were to me as well. They took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions without rushing, and truly understood how scary it is for a parent to see their child go under anesthesia. They checked in with us before and even after the procedure via text, which made me feel so at ease and cared for. The entire staff was wonderful — so kind, patient, and helpful. “Best dental office I have ever been! Took my son there for a dental checkup (TK enrollment requirement) today. First the office is modern and clean. Checkin was a breeze. The dental hygienist was extremely good with kids-she was engaging, warm, firm and efficient. My boy went through the first dental cleaning and imaging in his life with nothing but giggles. Dr. Evan is super clear in explaining everything to me and also great with kids. The goodie bag with the ballon and stickers won my boy’s heart. He even got a sugar-free lollipop and I got a cold brew coffee as reward. I wish I could come here for my teeth too haha.
