TimberStone Golf Course opened in 2002 as one of the Treasure Valley's premier public golf destinations. Designed by acclaimed architect John Harbottle III, the 18-hole championship course was carved into the natural terrain of the Boise foothills, featuring 200 feet of elevation change, dramatic rock formations, and over 70 acres of wetlands and native grasses. The course layout takes full advantage of the landscape, with each hole offering distinct challenges and scenic views of the surrounding valley and mountains. TimberStone has earned Golf Digest's coveted 4.5-star rating and is regularly named one of Idaho's best public golf courses.
The course plays to 7,002 yards from the championship tees, with five tee boxes on each hole to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. The signature 18th hole features a dramatic downhill approach to an island green surrounded by water, consistently ranked as one of the most memorable finishing holes in the region. TimberStone's layout emphasizes strategic shot-making over distance, with water hazards coming into play on 14 holes and elevation changes that require careful club selection. The course conditions are maintained to high standards year-round, with bentgrass greens and bluegrass fairways.
Beyond the course itself, TimberStone offers comprehensive practice facilities including a driving range, putting green, and short game area where golfers can warm up before their rounds. The full-service pro shop carries equipment and apparel from top brands, and the professional staff provides club fitting and lessons for players looking to improve their game. The Spike Bar & Grill serves food and drinks throughout the day, with a patio overlooking the 18th green that's become a popular gathering spot for post-round celebrations and events. TimberStone also hosts corporate outings, tournaments, and league play throughout the season.

“Such an awesome course. Tee boxes were great. Greens were beautiful”
— Dallin Reed, Google Review
“This is a nice course but the price is out of line. For as far out of town as it is it isn’t worth the drive or money. I’ve played a lot of nicer courses for a lot less. Surprised by the marshal or ranger spending so much time getting signatures and phone numbers of the drivers of the carts, giving instructions and rules of golf and then say keep up the pace. We could have been on the next hole by the time he let us finally T off.”
— Steve Pilling, Google Review
“This golf course is very fun to play. The course is beautiful and not too many people playing on Monday. The staff is awesome and very nice to talk to. The front 9 and back 9 are a lot of interest because you get to play with amazing things to see while playing. Not too much water or sand but be careful on a few of the holes. The only thing I had trouble with were the greens. They were very, very fast. Perhaps I'm just not used to such fast greens. Anyways, I had a lot of fun playing and if I still lived in Idaho I would play here a lot.”
— Evan Taylor, Google Review
“The two locals I played with asked me to give TimberTone a bad review in order to keep people from finding out about it. Too late. Fun golf course with a lot of interesting holes. Pace of play was perfect and conditions were rock solid.”
— Bill Hornstein, Google Review
“Great course that is well maintained. Greens were in great shape. The starter Chuck was very helpful. Tad, the head pro was great to chat with and he even let us into the fitting area to check it out.”
— ricky harder, Google Review
