Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist at PT@acac?

No referral is required. Virginia law allows direct access to physical therapy, meaning you can schedule an appointment directly without a physician's referral. This makes it faster and easier to get the care you need. If your insurance requires a referral for coverage, the clinic can guide you through that process.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your initial evaluation will include a comprehensive assessment of your movement, pain levels, functional limitations, and treatment goals. The therapist will take a detailed history, perform physical tests, and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. The first session typically lasts 45-60 minutes and may include some initial treatment techniques. You'll leave with a clear understanding of your condition and the path to recovery.

How much does physical therapy cost, and do you accept insurance?

PT@acac accepts most major insurance plans. Costs vary depending on your insurance coverage, deductible, and copay structure. The clinic offers online payment options for convenience. It's recommended to contact them directly at (434) 817-7848 to verify your specific insurance benefits and get an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs before your first visit.

Who is the BASE Clinic best for?

The BASE Clinic (Back pain And fall reduction) is designed for two primary groups: individuals suffering from chronic or recurrent back pain who want a structured, evidence-based treatment program, and older adults or anyone concerned about fall risk who wants to improve balance, strength, and home safety. The program combines targeted exercises, manual therapy, education, and functional training to address these common issues.

What makes PT@acac's golf performance program unique?

PT@acac's golf performance program combines physical therapy expertise with golf-specific training. The therapists assess your movement patterns, identify physical limitations affecting your swing, and create a program to improve mobility, strength, and power while reducing injury risk. This is ideal for golfers dealing with pain or injury, those wanting to prevent golf-related injuries, or players looking to optimize their physical performance on the course.

You can schedule an appointment by calling (434) 817-7848 or using the contact form on their website at acacpt.com. What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring your insurance card, a valid ID, any relevant medical records or imaging results (X-rays, MRIs), a list of current medications, and comfortable athletic clothing that allows the therapist to see and assess your movement. If you've been given any home exercise instructions or previous PT records, those are helpful as well. Arrive a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.

    What Customers Love

Katelyn did an amazing job treating my vertigo! She was caring and supportive during physical therapy and explained what she was doing and what was happening, significantly reducing my anxiety and making me feel empowered. I haven’t had any more episodes since the treatment. The office staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

I have done PT at a few different places before landing at ACAC. While my previous providers were great, the model they used only allowed me about 5-10 minutes with the PT and the rest of the time with the PT techs. ACAC has the opposite model spending most of the time with the PT. Also, these therapists are at the top of their game regarding care that can quicily help you recover. I love all the services I have received at ACAC.

Diana Zirker is magical! After 15 years of back pain that numerous doctors, physical therapists, exercises, and alternative methods had attempted to alleviate (without success) Diana’s physical therapy has reduced my pain to “0” - and I am now again (at 81) able to lift, carry, exercise and move like I could 30 years ago. Diana is truly a life-enhancing treasure! And thanks to ACAC!

    Kai Dozier, Google Review

My PT experience at the Alb Square location has been nothing but amazing. I could not tolerate the pain I was in and I could barely walk. While I still have pain and a long way to go, Devon has been amazing. While experienced at her craft, I am more impressed with her empathy which I needed the most at my first visit with her. Thank you!

    kelly kolczynski, Google Review

I have been using their support off and on for 7 years and become convinced of the great value of physical therapy. A lot of my home remedy googled exercises were doing more damage than good. Key is to listen to therapist and follow home exercise directions! They have helped recovery from surgery, a fall, drop foot, and back pain. Healing experience with wonderful people.
