“Course conditions 5/5, beautiful scenery. Challenging course in good shape. Employees seemed nice. Glacial pace of play. 2:10 to get through the front, which I could deal with. We played 3 holes on the back which took over an hour. Told the pro shop, they said they had course marshals out but I never saw one and no one apologized at all for the issue. Not sure if they overbooked or didn't enforce pace of play, it was a Saturday, and a UVA football weekend so maybe that was part of the issue, but I was really disappointed that there was no way we could play the whole course. I very seldom leave negative reviews but if I had known this was an issue here I would've booked elsewhere so I wanted to share, especially since the pro shop didn't seem to care about the issue.”

“Course is spectacular, a challenging layout with excellent views at every turn. Keep the ball in the short cut at all costs or don’t bother looking for it. Greens were fast and large. Restaurant experience was excellent. Attentive and friendly service. Didn’t eat here, but the food looked beautiful. Zero personality from pro shop staff. Zero. $12 for a small bucket of range balls (on top of $97 in greens fees). 🙄”

“Played my 6th round of golf here and absolutely love it. The mountain scenery is gorgeous, the greens are almost in season shape, you get a great combination of open space and narrow holes. It is a little expensive but worth the price. Driving range is all grass. No practice bunkers. Very challenging even from the White tees, make sure your driver is on point! I dare you to birdie the 5th hole from the white tees. Good luck!”

“I had called to secure a tee time for today (Sunday) and was ready for some attitude. But no, the guy at the pro shop was so chill knowing me and my buddy were coming from out of town he got us down and was actually nice about it. What? A nice guy at the pro shop? The guy checking us in today at the pro shop, also a nice human. No attitude no snide. Course Marshalls told us what was up and they were on point. Course was on point. Greens were fast. We never had to wait long, people in front and behind us were actual humans and we made it work on if they needed to go ahead or not. I had the filet once we were done playing and it was bomb. I hate that I live an hour and a half from this course because they would totally get all my money if I was a local. 10/10 would play here and eat here again.”

“Not sure what has happened to Old Trail over the past year but it sure seems like they don't want anyone there! Rates still very high despite never anyone there except for event days. Range now is almost always these new mats only when they have a huge grass range. Bizarre! Finally, despite the cool summer and now fall, the greens have been way slower than all years past. This place has gone downhill fast despite golf booming. Been going to Birdwood now instead. At least I can hit of grass!”
