King Spa Virginia is the first Korean spa (jjimjilbang) to open in the United States and remains the premier Korean day spa in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Located in Chantilly's Eastern Marketplace Plaza, this 60,000 square foot family-owned wellness sanctuary has been voted Best Day Spa in Northern Virginia by Northern Virginia Magazine three years running. Unlike Western spas focused on single treatments, King Spa offers an immersive all-day experience rooted in centuries-old Korean healing traditions—guests typically spend 4-8 hours moving between saunas, baths, pools, and relaxation areas, with the option to add professional spa services.
The facility features 10 specialty saunas, each designed for different therapeutic benefits: the Charcoal Sauna for detoxification, the Amethyst Sauna for nervous system calming, the Pink Salt Dome for respiratory health, the Yellow Mud Sauna using healing mud from Korean rivers, the Bul Han Jing Mak Dome (one of the hottest saunas in the world, reaching extreme temperatures for ancient Korean healing), the Bul Ga Ma infrared sauna, the Hinoki+Ion Room combining sacred Japanese wood with ion therapy, the Base Rock Sauna, the 23k Gold Pyramid Sauna for anti-aging, and an Ice Room for contrast therapy. Gender-segregated Korean bathhouses (clothing-optional) include hot tubs, steam rooms, and cold plunge pools designed to enhance circulation and relieve stress through traditional hydrotherapy.
Beyond the saunas and bathhouses, King Spa offers three heated bade pools: a scenic rooftop outdoor pool with hydrotherapy jets, an indoor aqua pool with waterfall, and a Japanese Hinoki bath made from aromatic sacred wood. Professional spa services include signature Korean body scrubs (intense exfoliation treatments performed on heated tables), facials using advanced techniques like the Desembre Oxyjet Elixir Pro, massage therapy (Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone), couples treatments, and V-Steam sessions for feminine wellness. The facility includes multiple co-ed relaxation lounges with recliners for meditation or rest, and an on-site restaurant serving fresh Korean and American cuisine, house-made juices, smoothies, and traditional dishes like cold noodle soup and Korean-style eggs.
King Spa is best for anyone seeking a full-day wellness retreat rather than a quick spa visit—groups of friends, couples, families (children welcome), solo relaxation seekers, athletes in need of recovery, those with chronic stress or muscle tension, and anyone curious about authentic Korean spa culture. The facility is open 9 AM–11 PM weekdays, until midnight Friday and Saturday, making it accessible for after-work visits or weekend wellness escapes. Located 30 minutes from Washington, D.C. near Dulles Airport, King Spa is Northern Virginia's destination for detoxification, hydrotherapy, and traditional Korean healing.
Best for: Groups of friends seeking full-day wellness retreats, Couples wanting shared spa experiences, Athletes needing muscle recovery and detoxification, Individuals with chronic stress or muscle tension, Families comfortable with Korean bathhouse culture, Anyone curious about authentic Korean jjimjilbang traditions, Solo relaxation seekers, Bachelorette/bachelor parties and special celebrations
Service area: Chantilly, VA and the greater Washington, D.C. metro area including Northern Virginia, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, and areas near Dulles Airport
Why choose King SPA: King Spa is the only authentic 60,000 sq ft Korean jjimjilbang in the D.C. metro area and the first Korean spa to open in the U.S. Unlike Western appointment-based spas that focus on single treatments, King Spa offers an all-day immersive experience with 10 specialty saunas (including unique amenities like a 23k gold sauna and Bul Han Jing Mak dome not found elsewhere), traditional Korean bathhouses, a rooftop outdoor bade pool, and on-site dining—all included in one day pass. Competitors typically offer limited sauna options, charge per treatment, and lack the cultural authenticity and variety that King Spa's family-owned operation provides.
First Korean Spa in America, 3x Best Day Spa Winner: King Spa was the first Korean jjimjilbang to open in the United States and has been voted Best Day Spa in Northern Virginia by Northern Virginia Magazine three consecutive years, establishing itself as the gold standard for Korean wellness in the D.C. metro area.
10 Specialty Saunas Including World's Hottest: King Spa offers 10 distinct therapeutic saunas, including the Bul Han Jing Mak Dome—one of the hottest saunas in the world—plus unique experiences like the 23k Gold Pyramid Sauna, Amethyst Sauna, and sacred Japanese Hinoki+Ion Room not found at typical Western spas.
All-Day Wellness Experience, Not Just Treatments: Unlike appointment-based spas, King Spa is designed for 4-8 hour immersive visits—guests move freely between saunas, bathhouses, pools, relaxation lounges, and dining at their own pace, with the option to add professional services like Korean body scrubs and massage.
Rooftop Outdoor Bade Pool & Authentic Korean Bathhouse: The facility includes three heated bade pools (including a scenic rooftop outdoor oasis), gender-segregated Korean bathhouses with traditional hot/cold plunge hydrotherapy, and a Japanese Hinoki bath—amenities that mirror authentic Korean jjimjilbangs, not typical in U.S. spas.

How much does a visit to King Spa cost?
King Spa operates on a day pass system rather than hourly fees. Admission includes unlimited access to all 10 saunas, gender-segregated bathhouses (hot tubs, steam rooms, cold plunge pools), all three bade pools (indoor, outdoor rooftop, Hinoki bath), relaxation lounges, and locker facilities for the entire day. Professional spa services (Korean body scrubs, facials, massage) are add-ons charged separately. King Spa occasionally runs promotions (e.g. spring specials where purchasing a service includes a free return entry). Day passes are non-refundable and prices vary for weekdays vs. weekends—check virginia.kingspa.com for current rates or call (703) 957-3010.
What is a Korean body scrub and should I get one?
A Korean body scrub is an intense full-body exfoliation treatment performed on a heated table in the bathhouse by a trained scrub technician. The therapist uses a special exfoliating mitt to remove dead skin, dirt, and impurities, leaving skin incredibly smooth and soft. Many first-time King Spa visitors say the body scrub is a must-try experience—it's a signature service in Korean spa culture and one of the most popular treatments at King Spa. The treatment is performed in the gender-segregated bathhouse (clothing-optional area) and typically takes 30-40 minutes. Advance booking is recommended, especially on weekends.
Is King Spa clothing-optional, and what should I wear?
King Spa has both co-ed and gender-segregated areas. The 10 specialty saunas, relaxation lounges, dining area, and bade pools are co-ed—guests wear provided cotton uniforms (shirt and shorts) in these areas. The Korean bathhouses (hot tubs, steam rooms, cold plunge pools) are gender-segregated and clothing-optional, following traditional Korean jjimjilbang customs. Body scrub and V-Steam treatments are performed in the bathhouse. First-timers uncomfortable with nudity can still enjoy the majority of the facility in the co-ed areas. Swimsuits are not allowed in the bathhouse but are required in the bade pools (though most guests wear the provided uniform instead).
How long should I plan to stay at King Spa?
Most guests spend 4-8 hours at King Spa to fully experience the facility. Unlike traditional spas where you book a 60-90 minute treatment, King Spa is designed as an all-day wellness retreat. A typical visit includes rotating between multiple saunas (10-20 minutes each), soaking in the bathhouses and bade pools, relaxing in the lounges, eating a meal at the restaurant, and optionally booking spa services like body scrubs or massage. Some guests arrive in the morning and stay until evening. There's no time limit on your day pass—you can come and go within the same day, or stay as long as you like during operating hours.
Who is King Spa best for? Can I bring my family or children?
King Spa welcomes families, couples, groups of friends, and solo visitors. Children are allowed (families often visit together on weekends), though parents should note that the bathhouse areas are clothing-optional and may not be appropriate for all ages—each family should decide based on their comfort level. King Spa is ideal for anyone seeking a full-day wellness retreat: athletes needing muscle recovery and detoxification, groups celebrating special occasions (birthdays, bachelorette/bachelor parties), couples wanting a shared spa experience, individuals with chronic stress or pain seeking hydrotherapy and heat therapy, and anyone curious about authentic Korean spa culture. The all-day format makes it especially appealing for those who want to unwind at their own pace rather than rushing through a scheduled appointment.
What should I know before my first visit to King Spa?
First-timers should know: (1) Plan to stay 4-8 hours to experience the full spa. (2) Day passes include access to everything except professional services—book body scrubs, facials, or massage in advance if desired. (3) You'll receive a key fob for two lockers (one for shoes at entry, one for clothes in the locker room) and a cotton uniform to wear in co-ed areas. (4) The bathhouse (hot tubs, steam rooms, cold pools) is gender-segregated and clothing-optional—this is where body scrubs happen. (5) Bring a swimsuit if you want to wear one in the bade pools, or use the provided uniform. (6) Eat at the restaurant between sauna sessions—many guests recommend the Korean-style eggs, cold noodle soup, and shaved ice. (7) Weekends are busier—weekdays and evenings offer a quieter experience. (8) The facility provides all toiletries, towels, and amenities. (9) No outside food or drinks allowed. (10) Hydrate throughout your visit—heat therapy is intense.
Can I book spa services (body scrubs, massage, facials) in advance?
Yes, and it's highly recommended, especially for weekends and peak times. You can book professional services (Korean body scrubs, facials, massage therapy, couples treatments, V-Steam) when you purchase your day pass online at virginia.kingspa.com, or by calling (703) 957-3010. Walk-in spa service appointments are sometimes available but not guaranteed. Body scrubs are performed in the bathhouse and take 30-40 minutes. Massages (Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone) are offered in private treatment rooms. Facials include advanced treatments like the Desembre Oxyjet Elixir Pro. Many guests schedule their spa service for midway through their visit, after spending time in the saunas to open pores and relax muscles.
What makes King Spa different from a typical day spa?
King Spa is a Korean jjimjilbang, not a Western appointment-based spa. Instead of booking a single 90-minute treatment, you purchase a day pass for unlimited access to 10 specialty saunas, traditional Korean bathhouses, heated bade pools, and relaxation areas—then spend 4-8 hours moving between amenities at your own pace. The focus is on heat therapy, hydrotherapy, and self-guided detoxification rooted in Korean wellness traditions. Professional services (body scrubs, massage, facials) are optional add-ons. The facility includes an on-site restaurant, co-ed relaxation lounges with recliners for napping, and a rooftop outdoor pool. It's more like a wellness resort you visit for the day than a spa where you arrive for a scheduled treatment and leave.
“Life-Changing Body Scrub at This Authentic Korean Spa Gem! I absolutely loved my visit to King Spa in Chantilly, VA—it’s the real deal for a traditional Korean jjimjilbang experience, and worth every minute of the drive! The highlight for me was hands-down the body scrub. If you’ve never tried a classic Korean seshin scrub, you have to here—it’s vigorous and thorough, sloughing off layers of dead skin you didn’t even know were there. My attendant was skilled and professional! It was rejuvenating and detoxifying in a way no at-home exfoliator can match. Pure bliss! Beyond that, the facilities are top-notch: a variety of themed saunas (the hot ones are intense but amazing for sweating it out), relaxing poultice rooms, clean pools and hot tubs. The place is spacious, well-maintained, and the staff keeps everything spotless. I spent hours rotating between saunas and resting areas, and it felt like a true escape. If you’re hesitant about the nudity in the gender-separated wet areas—it’s totally normal in Korean spa culture, and everyone is respectful. Pro tip: Go on a weekday for a more peaceful vibe. King Spa lives up to the hype as one of the best in the area. I’ll be back soon for another scrub—highly recommend for anyone needing serious relaxation and skin renewal!”

“Been here a couple times now, I live 3.5 hrs away and I love it here. It’s super clean, very friendly and attentive staff, it is spacious and lots of options depending on preferences. I also enjoy the purple haze drink and have had some really good dishes here. They are expensive for services and tip is not included (so be mindful of that, 18% is added at the end but can be adjusted). For the cost of the services most places build tips into those prices. I had a body scrub/massage and foot/leg massage which were all top tier. Yes, for the body scrubs you have to be nude as well as for the whirlpools/sauna inside the locker room. This is not the spas fault but I wish people researched what a Korean spa is before coming. And to be more mindful of those around them as too many ppl are loud, playing music, on their phones, etc. it is a spa and should be relaxing and quiet. If you are offended by nudity then this is not the place for you, that is only in the locker rooms but elsewhere is clothed. You can rent a robe too for $5, yes it would be nice if it was included but it’s not that big of a deal.”

“Fabulous. I really liked how many options they had. I got the one hour deep tissue massage which was very nice and relaxing. The bath house was nice too although I wish there were more pool options available. I found it hard to relax in the common room since there were so many people and it was busy. The food was great but expensive ($20+ per item). The really hot sauna and cold room were my favorite as I was able to detox my body.”

“This place is so incredible it makes me emotional 🥹 Everything is such a comfortable amazing experience!!! I paid $254 total for the entire day which included admission, a gold spa package where i had a facial, body scrub and massage and it was incredible!!!! She washed my scalp, kept me warm with warm oils and hot water and towels, I am literally the smoothest I've ever been in my life...she released knots and tension all over. You must be nude in the spa room, but even someone like me with anxiety became super comfortable quickly and I even have higher self esteem in my own body now after being around other ladies of all walks of life and body shapes wearing just our skin. The salt rooms...outdoor heated pool are all included in admission!!! The food court is high quality delicious but a little costly but totally worth it. 3 stories high of relaxation, heated pools, spa treatments if you want them....this place is everything I dreamed of.”

“23JULY2025, 8 DEC. 2025 I absolutely LOVE my King SPA experience..you’ve read others explanations on how to King SPA. I arrived early and walked in at 9a.m. I checked in and got my access wristband(forgot to take a pic 🤳🏽)#335 & #3 is key to purchasing treatments, facials, massages, food, locking, and unlocking you locker. It is sauna and water proof. Street shoes are NOT allowed 🚫 inside the locker rooms. There are separate lockers for shoes and your belongings. You can bring your own water bottle/container inside. You can also bring your own towel and shower shoes(I’ve seen some women in there with them)as well. Bring your own swimsuit and there are swimsuits 🩱 to purchase. There are shelves with tops, pants, shorts with the King SPA moniker on for patrons to wear around the bath house. The prices for services of body care is listed on their website. Starting out one is looking at $100+ and up for the day, depending on what you purchase. There is a cafeteria on site and that is starting at $20+ which depends on what you purchase. I had a 9:20a.m. Classic body scrub. My lady(L)was AWESOME and had my skin feeling EXTREMELY soft(like a baby’s bum). The absolute best experience ever. That was in the shower area. You shower completely and the sit in the warm jacuzzi tubs or the cooler tub and wait to be seen for your scrub. The entire locker room area is nude due to you having to go shower before being out on the property. It is so sanitary and very pleasant for all. There are counters with mirrors and hair dryers for those that want or need to polish the beauty before leaving King SPA. My 10:10a.m sports massage w/P(there are other types of massages offered @ King SPA) was fabulous, nice, and he is a miracle worker in my world. He adjusted the massage pressure on my back and gave me a transformed body back🧡. He sealed the deal in my entire day. There are different pools, saunas, relaxation rooms, and areas to sit and look at television. Year round pools(warmed pool like in Iceland)outside. Simply make a day of King SPA because self care can’t be rushed, it’s a process.”
