“I began weight training at the age of 60. Before that, I was primarily a runner, but knee pain eventually forced me to stop. Interestingly, weight training relieved that pain. Over the years, I worked with several personal trainers. Most had only a basic understanding of how to help me reach my goals, and the results reflected that. At times, especially during COVID, I trained on my own. While I stayed active, without proper guidance my progress was limited, and I often injured myself. After COVID, at the age of 75, I began training with Steve Burnett. Steve has degrees in both Exercise Physiologist and Respiratory Therapy. He trains clients strictly one-on-one in a private, well-equipped gym. His education and experience in exercise physiology really are evident in his training style. From the start, Steve took the time to understand my objectives: building muscle mass (no easy task at my age), maintaining flexibility, and staying injury-free. We also discussed nutrition, and he provided practical guidance to help me maximize the benefits of training. What sets Steve apart is his depth of knowledge and his systematic approach. Each workout is carefully planned in advance and reviewed with me. He explains the purpose behind every exercise and the logic of the sequence, and ensures I perform them correctly for maximum benefit and safety. I have been working with Steve for three years. During this time, I’ve gained significant strength and muscle definition — more than I thought possible at age 78. Training with Steve has been both productive and genuinely enjoyable.
