Since 2003, the Lexington School of Music® has been the premier destination for music education in South Carolina, teaching over 1,600 students from ages 4 to adult. As a division of the Columbia Arts Academy®, the state's largest music school, they've earned more awards than any other music school in the Midlands and built a reputation trusted by thousands of families. The school employs 70 music teachers—all with either college training or professional performance experience—making them the largest and most qualified teaching faculty in Lexington. With at least three teachers per instrument, students are matched with instructors who fit their learning style and musical goals. They offer lessons in guitar (electric and acoustic), piano (acoustic pianos in every room), voice and singing, drums, bass, violin, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele—all under one roof. Lessons are available seven days a week with the most flexible scheduling in the region: 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and extended hours on weekends.

What should I expect at my first lesson?
Your first lesson will include an introduction to your matched teacher, a discussion of your musical goals and preferred styles, and an assessment of your current skill level. Bring your instrument if you have one, but the school's rooms are fully stocked with amps, keyboards, acoustic pianos, and full drum kits. Do I need to own an instrument to start lessons?
Not for your first lesson—rooms are equipped with everything you need, including acoustic pianos, keyboards, amps, and full drum kits. However, to practice at home and progress effectively, you'll eventually need your own instrument. The staff can provide guidance on purchasing or renting instruments suitable for your level.

He is very shy and quiet, but Mr. Jackson has worked hard to create a bond with him.
